Economic Development Commission Meeting
Meeting Minutes of
December 17, 2012

Opened Meeting at 6:05 PM
Approval of Minutes:
Kim moved to approve the meeting minutes from November 26, 2012. Tom B. seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
Old Business:
- Business Directory – Kim passed out copies of draft #2 of the Business Directory for review. We did preliminary editing at the meeting to ensure that all changes to first draft had been incorporated. Some errors were noted and members will continue the editing process at home. Any errors identified will be reported via email to Kim. Kim requested that emails note the page number, the error, and the correction required. To aid the editing process, Kim handed out spreadsheets showing the business classifications and the businesses that should appear in each classification.
- Love’s Travel Center, Dunkin Donuts and Beni’s (old Teggiano’s) update – Beni’s renovation/expansion plans that include outside seating were approved by PZC. Kim noted that work had already begun. The owner hopes to have the Willington location open by April 2013.
- Business Feature on Website and new email address – Mycoscience is the new featured business. Tom B. worked with Tish Ignatowicz to obtain our new email address – edc@willingtonct.org.
- EDC Finances – We will request an additional $225 from the BOF to cover the estimated shortfall related to the mailing of Business Directories to residents/businesses.
- Business Networking Meeting – The next Business Networking Meeting will be held in the Community Room of the Library on Tuesday January 22, 2013 starting at 6:00 PM with Thursday January 24, 2013 as a snow date. Jackie went over the draft flyer and the draft PowerPoint presentation that she had prepared and solicited feedback from members. Some changes were suggested. She will update the PowerPoint presentation for our review in the next several weeks. Jackie also agreed to distribute flyer contents by eblasts and emails to business owners. We will also post flyers strategically around Town.

- Marketing & Promotion – Nothing to report.
- New Business Activity and Contacts – None.
- Correspondence – None.

- Commission Vacancies - We have a full seat and two alternate seats open.
